About
Garland 'Gary' Euel Markham III was a Hall of Fame music educator and adjudicator whose engagement with Drum Corps International spanned more than four decades. He joined the staff of the Blue Devils in the mid-1970s and later the Spirit of Atlanta as a music arranger and program coordinator, became a DCI judge in 1980, and was named Education Advisor for DCI's Rules and Systems Task Force, becoming a steadfast voice in the refinement of the adjudication system and a champion of judge training. He was inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame (2022) and also received the Sousa Foundation Sudler Order of Merit (1992), the Music for All Hall of Fame (2006), and the Conn-Selmer Institute Hall of Fame (2015). He died in 2022 at age 75.
