Dr. John Bell is a music/general-effect adjudicator and conductor who directs the Wind Ensemble at McKendree University (Lebanon, IL) and is music and artistic director of the St. Louis Brass Band. He is Professor of Music Emeritus from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he spent 30 years as Director of Bands and Professor of Conducting and Music Education. He served as Brass Caption Head for the Cavaliers and Blue Knights drum and bugle corps and has adjudicated for Drum Corps International, Bands of America, and the World Music Festival across the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Thailand, registered as a Master Judge with the Marching Roundtable Judges Academy. He is an elected member of the American Bandmasters Association, the American School Band Directors Association, and the North American Brass Band Association board, and holds doctoral and master's degrees from the University of Illinois and a bachelor's from LSU.
