About

John 'JJ' Pipitone is a percussion adjudicator, composer, and educator who won the DCI multi-tenor solo competition in 1989 and the PAS multi-tenor competition in 1990. He marched nine years of drum corps with the Dutch Boy, Phantom Regiment, and Concord Blue Devils, taught the World Champion Phantom Regiment (1995-1996) and served as its battery caption head and arranger in 1997, and instructed the Glassmen (1998-1999) and Crossmen (2000-2001). Judging worldwide since 2003, he adjudicates for Bands of America, USBands, WGI, DCI, Drum Corps Japan, and indoor circuits. He holds degrees from Morehead State University and the University of North Texas, and is a retired band director and real-estate investor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who consults for the Texas A&M Commerce Pride Marching Band.
