About

Marie Grana-Czapinski is a Hall of Fame visual adjudicator and a co-founder of Winter Guard International, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished judges in the marching arts. She began as a member of the Norwood Park Imperials in Chicago and became an instructor at 18, received her first DCI judging assignment in 1971, and has been a regular on DCI World Championship and regional panels ever since, including seven years as DCI visual caption head. She succeeded her mentor Don Angelica as WGI's chief judge in 1980, is one of only a small handful qualified to judge every DCI visual caption, and is the only person inducted into the Halls of Fame of all three of WGI, DCI, and Bands of America.
