About

Richard 'Rock' Kemp was a longtime general-effect and visual adjudicator and administrator in the marching arts, respected for three decades as a Winter Guard International judge and holding leadership roles in both WGI and Drum Corps International. A resident of Evergreen Park, Illinois, he served as Judge Administrator for the Midwest Color Guard Circuit and judged for multiple organizations nationwide, appearing at DCI World Championships in General Effect and Visual captions and as Chief Judge of the 2018 Show of Shows. Known for his wit and mentorship of fellow judges, he passed away in 2025.
